  On the importance of studying English        English is the key to all human though and knowledge. All the great books in the world have been translated into English.   English is a language spoken by 1/5 of the people of the world. Therefore people who studies English is not only normal man who has a broad education of all the sciences 8 arts , but also citizen of the world , who can be understood in almost ony part of the civilized world.       There are most thousands of Sri Lankan people who go to the middle western countries every year now and those who have a knowledge ' how ever small it may be of the English language have an advantage over those who know no English .  All famouse leaders, presidents they always use to English language to speak and drstribute their ideas all over the world .     A man with a full knowledge of English is not a narrow minded , cultured polished and in many senses a perfect gntleman...

  *Books* Books are keys to wisdom's treasure.       There was a time in the history of the world when only the rich were able to buy books were in main copy I man script from byt after john Guttenburg invented the printing press, books came out in thousands copres and the poor people were able to take the goodness of education.  The free barrowing libraries and mobile libraries ( e - library ) do a great service in spreading the habit of reading by reading , a people inteligence and knowledge are increased.   Any people can gain pleasure by reading books. On the other hand , books can corrupt and destroy the societg , so books have their merits and demerits but the merits par out weight the demerits and so the school master is abroad. Which means that good education is spreading and this mostly through books.  The rice tree                 We call the jak tree in rice tree. We can find a jak tree in almost every home garden. It is a big tree. The leaves are small and dark green in colour. Jak is an important food supplement to sri lankans. Jak is very nutritious. Properly boiled jak and scraped coconut is a tasty meal. Very young jak fruits are called "polos". It is very delicious cirry and the polos mallum is a tasty too. The ripe jak fruits are very delicious. Therefore the jak tree is very important to sri lankans.

  Tsunami                   On sunday, desember 26th the tsunami or tidal waves wreaked across sri lanka, as well as many other countries, in the asian region. Massive waves are usually caused by earthquakes deep under the ocean floor. These waves can travel a long distance.                    Caused by strong seismic shocks, tsunamis can reach huge heights and speesds, picking up strength as they cross the ocean. They often culminate in disastrous, thousands of kilometers frome where they originated. However despite the terror they can unleash on coastal areas, they are sometimes barely noticeable out at sea. According to some, a tsunami could hardly be felt if you are in the sea on a boat. It becomes powerful only when it is near the shore and reaches shallow water, which then can push waves over ten times higher than tha sea water level.              ...

  The farmer                      "When the farmer removes his mud, he will qualify for the king" it is an old saying.                     The farmer is a very important person in our country. He performs a very great job.                      Farmers work in a paddy fields or in a chena. They get up early in the morning. Then work untill evening. The farmer is not lazy and works very hard. He is a helpful person. He cultivates paddy, vegetables, fruits and many eatables. His wife and children always help in his work. Today the farmers get their work done by modern equipment. He is a very happy and healthy man. We must be thankful to him.

Hamlet is considered to be his greatest play. Besides his business, he also acted in a london theatre. He died in april, 1616.

      The first day in school                                I got up early in the morning that day. I was verry happy, because it was my first day in school. My mother prepared milk rice, l wore a new dress. I had my breakfast.                                My mother and I took a bus to school we reached the school and entered the classroom.                                There were many children in the class. I was sitting in the first row. The teacher came to the classroom. She arranged a party. There were many sweets served at the party. We enjoyed ourselves. He is not a wealthy man.                                 He is a very active person. He works very hard. As sea he faces many hardships and dangers. When a strong wind blows, his boat may sink or hit rocks and be broken into pieces.   A journey by train                                 I once went to Baddulla by train. I went with my parents, my uncle also joined in the trip. We left by morning train. We had our breakfast in the train. We had home prepared tea in a flask. My uncle bought biscuits and sandwiches from the buffet.                                 The train was running at high speed. After passing gampaha the train stopped suddenly. The passengers looked out from the windows.   Yapahuwa               Yapahuwa is a city which used to be a kingdom of sri lanka in ancient times. Although it may not hold the same prominence as the cities of Anuradhapura or polonnaruwa, the city does hold a special place in history.                   Yapahuwa is better known for it's rock fortress. Another place which was built with a similar concept to sigiriya, the Yapahuwa rock fortress rises 100 metres from a plain. However, unlike sigirya, it is relatively peaceful these days, as it does not attract as many visitors. The flood            Durring the rainy season, drains canals and rivers are overflown with rain water. River banks cannot contain amount of water and starts overflowing. Day by day the flood increases and causes damages to houses, lives, roads, bridges and even kill animals. In villages, wells and cesspits too get filled with flood water. There are minor and major floods in sri lanka. Even without rivers pr canals floods car occur. There are some who enjoy floods. That is those who go here and there in boats with joy. People tie a few logs together and float on the water. They enjoy the flood while refugees cry for their lost family members of families. Immediately after the flood epidemics start. Cholera and diarrhoea are some of them.
